Development of a Digital Platform of microbiological, chemical and multi-spectral data on the safety and quality of Food. Financed by the European Regional Development Fund of the European Union and Greek national funds through the Operational Program Competitiveness, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, under the call RESEARCH – CREATE – INNOVATE (project code:Τ1EDK-01106).
The main objective of the EU co-funded project is the development of a web-based platform, which will manage (Lab Information Management) and process multimetric microbiological and chemical food safety data, along with phenotypic and molecular characteristics of isolated pathogenic micro-organisms for conclusions with the food hazard and the origin of the contamination.

  • The depiction of safety of different foods within 3 years, from Industries, geographically covering the entire Greek territory.
  • The correlation of chemical and microbiological safety data with the physico-chemical characteristics of food and the spatio-temporal distribution of microbial strains through their genetic and phenotypic fingerprints.
    The ability to selectively retrieve platform data and subsequently process it in real time by the user, with advanced multivariate statistical analysis techniques, such as PCA, PLSR and time series analysis, with interactive analysis of the results of the analysis.
  • Expected Results: The platform data will reflect the food security of the Greek Industry in a timely manner compared to international trends in order to identify the need for targeted corrective actions. Although the database will initially refer to strains of selected pathogenic microorganisms and chemical contaminants, registered users will be able to expand it with additional pathogenic or chemical contaminants (pesticides, heavy metals, mycotoxins).
